Successful Pin Trade!!

Ahh…pin *trading* a way to get new pins without spending any money (except a bit of postage). A few weeks ago, I completed a highly successful pin trade.

Pin trading with strangers through the mail is risky…you never know the quality of the pin you’ll receive back. I’ve decided to reserve by-mail-trading for pins that I have duplicates of or no desire to collect. These pins also happen to be my hidden mickey pins, which are the cheapest of the pins. So, I’m risking losing an inexpensive duplicate/unwanted pin basically.

I traded two of the parking sign pins (shown in the middle, but different characters) for two Duffy Hat pins I did not have! Here’s Duffy in a Goofy hat and a Peter Pan hat!

The pins were in fabulous condition and clearly not scrappers or fakes. YAY!!!!!!!

Duffy was very pleased as these will go on his lanyard with Duffy in the Dreamfinder’s hat, and Duffy in Captain Hook’s hat.

Jimmy has been hanging on to this one for awhile. Obviously, I’m keeping it…see my last post on Dory. Since Dory is one of my favorites, I intend to collect as many Dory pins as possible.

I received this in a swap I did with some penpals towards the beginning of the summer. It was an unexpected surprise. This and the other pin she sent were ones she didn’t want from her own collection. I was considering doing collections dedicated to my top favorite rides, so this definitely cemented the idea of doing a Pirates themed one!

Disney Pin Trading: Shanghai Cast Member Exclusive Pin

Pin Description: A pin from the Shanghai Resort with Mickey painting a snake.

Series: Cast Member Exclusive Shanghai Resort; there are other ones with Mickey painting other things; but because this is exclusive, limited edition, and foreign, information online is not very abundant!

The Shanghai Disney Resort is the newest resort set to open next year. It was an exclusive pin handed out to cast members at the resort. This pin was given as a gift by an uncle who does work for Disney. I was incredibly excited to get this pin, it was a complete surprise! I don’t have many Limited Editions or Exclusives in my collection, and this one is very neat! I definitely need to find a better way to display these pins in my home! I have some plans, but I need to get on them. This pin helps inspire me to do that.

My collection started out pretty small and narrow with just Hidden Mickey pins, but boy has it been expanding!

I’m a huge fan of this collection since it’s very park-specific. I’m interested in collecting the other sets of these pins, not just Epcot. I have two other pins: Journey into Imagination and Test Track. I recently trade my spare Journey into Imagination by mail and was supposed to receive a Mission Space in return. I have yet to receive it. So, this pin is NOT a duplicate like I originally thought!!! Yay! But I need to stop trying to trade! My 3 attempts have all failed!

I’m missing Nemo and Soarin’.

On August 1st, I ordered the Disney Parks Pack (3 mystery pins from the Disney Store; limited availability). This was one of the three pins I received. Since he isn’t part of a particular collection, and it’s a nice pin, I am keeping it, despite the fact I have not managed to see Ratatouille yet. (I plan to correct that soon!)

This is the last of the four pins I have from the series. As I mentioned previously, I was open to either keeping or trading them. However, recent events (a penpal swap) landed me two Pirates of the Caribbean ride pins. Since I now have more Pirates pins, and it’s in my top 5 rides, I’ll be starting a Pirates collection.
