Scenic Vistas!

Awhile back, I started a series of things I wanted to do after I moved to Virginia. One of the first places I listed was the scenic vistas on a near by highway. You can read my initial post here.

Every time I’d visit Jimmy down here, I’d drive by a couple of “scenic vista” stops on the highway. I was always in a rush to see my husband (and the cats), so I was never took the time to stop, but they remained high on my list of places I wanted to visit. This was for two reasons: 1) I was glad to be living in a place with topography again (no offense, northeast OH), and 2) I was grateful to be living in a place beautiful enough to have vistas.

Unlike my fellow New Englanders, when I was back in Cape Cod, I loved living in a place that attracted so many tourist. Tourists mean better shopping, more restaurants, and plenty of attractions to visit. Scenic Vistas are a good sign that an area might have some tourism, and I’m so happy to be living in a place like that again.

Now that life is starting to normalize, a bit. We finally had the opportunity to go check them out!

Of course, Duffy came along. His life’s mission is to be in as many travel-related selfies as possible.

How beautiful is my new home environment?

The stops were pretty quick…not much to do besides look at the pretty mountains and take photos of Duffy. Still, I was very excited to be able to do something fun on a weekend with Jimmy (and Duffy). I look forward to more adventures very soon!

Help Expand This Website!

This is just a friendly reminder that I’m setup for donations through Patreon.

You can donate as little as $1 a month. Every dollar is super helpful.

Right now, I am using the free version of WordPress. I’m quickly running out of storage space and I also can’t post videos. I would love to be able to afford an upgrade to the blog that would allow me to post more photos and cat videos!

In addition, I’d love to purchase some additional variations of my blog header (like my Christmas one), and maybe some additional art.

Thanks for reading!

I made a Facebook Page!

Crazy Cat Nerd now has a Facebook page….

I’m not sure why I didn’t create one before now, but I was inspired this morning when I wanted to share with you all that Harree was eating pretty well this morning, but didn’t want to make a full blog post about it. 🙂

Also, I can’t post cat videos here…but I can on Facebook!

So, if you want more frequent cat updates, cat videos, or to chat about Disney or The Sims…or anything else I post about, you should follow me on FB! 🙂

Busy Couple of Weeks

Thank you for your patience for the lack of blog updates. These last couple of weeks have been very chaotic and I’ve had trouble keeping up my normal routine.

Since we’re down to one vehicle at the moment, every time I need a vehicle during the day, I need to spend an additional 2 hours in the car dropping my husband off at work and picking him up.

The last couple of weeks have been filled with interviews, doctor’s appointments, vet appointments, etc…and toss on a couple of difficult assignments from my programming class, you have a recipe for me getting nothing done besides the must-dos. I didn’t even get to update my Duffy Disney counter!

Things have quieted down a bit now, and I anticipate returning to a more regular blogging schedule soon.

New Menu Bar!!!!

I’ve started to make some improvements to the website.

The menu bar at the top of the page has changed! Now, instead of taking you to static info pages that I’d frequently forget to update, they take you to the latest posts for that topic. So, if you’ve been gone awhile and need to catch up, are only interested in certain topics, or want to find an old post to reference…it’s a bit easier. A few of the buttons have a drop-down menu for even more specificity (misc. nerdoms has a bunch!).

The exact topics up there are likely to change at some point in the future based on how popular certain tags are.

But where did that cat profiles go? They are still there! The important static pages (cat photos and cat profiles) are still there, just under the drop-down menu for cats. My DZP list can be found under the challenges heading!

THANK YOU! I’m so pleased with the amount of feedback I’ve gotten so far in my poll about posts you’d like to see more of. It has been very insightful. I’m going to continue to check the results, so please keep voting! There are some definite clear trends I see (cats and Disney).

If you’d like to help me improve my website…Remember, if you’d like to help me improve my website, I’m on Patreon. You can contribute as little as $1 a month to help improve the site. My goals include upgrading the site to a paid version of wordpress, posting cat videos, getting some new graphics for the blog, etc..

What do you think of the new menu bar?

What would you like to see more of?

I’m interested to know what my readers would like to see more of. Since I post on a variety of topics, I’m not sure what all of my followers are hoping to read more of (and thank you to all of you who follow me!).

Are you all about the cats? Disney? Games? Everything nerdy?

Based on my stats on WordPress, you like cats, Disney, and entertainment recommendations. However, there could be biases based on how often I post about certain things, when those posts go up, and how I tag them.

If you’d be so kind, I have a one-question Google form below. Give it a few minutes to load- it may take a little longer on some machines. If it doesn’t load for you, feel free to let me know in the comments what posts you’d love to see more of.

You Can Now Support This Site Through Patreon!

First, this is (obviously) entirely optional and I do not anticipate the majority of my readers to participate.

However, if you have the extra funds available, and you enjoy reading this site, you can now support the site through Patreon (link also in the sidebar). You can read more about Patreon on their site, but the goal of Patreon is to provide a means for people to support creators of content like writers, bloggers, artists, podcasters, etc… You can give as little as $1 a month.

What the funds will go towards:

  • I’m running out of storage space on WordPress for this blog, and I will need to decide soon whether I should delete content, or upgrade the site to the premium package. A premium package will also let me post videos, and give a wider variety of customization features.
  • Additional themed headers
  • Cat videos
  • Cat and Food related subscription boxes to review
  • More content, and better content
